Although it is not yet confirmed whether Apple’s next version of iPhone will be joining the LTE community, it has be confirmed that the upcoming iPad3 will have the 4G LTE technology. Wall Street Journal confirmed earlier that the iPad3 whose announcement is expected this March 7 will be compatible to run on AT&T and Verizon’s 4G data networks. The report stated that with Sprint’s rapidly growing LTE infrastructure will not be able to support the LTE model of the next generation Apple tablet. On the other hand, by bringing it up to speed with AT&T as well as Verizon will have a positive impact on the iPad 3 making it more attractive in the market while lessening the influence of Android tablets with LTE technology in their effort to set their products apart from the iPad dominated tablet industry.
The note from Wall Street Journal stated that “Verizon Communications Inc. and AT&T Inc. will sell a version of the coming iPad that runs on their newest fourth-generation wireless networks, according to people familiar with the matter, as the battle to cash in on big investments in mobile broadband heats up.” It further added that, “Apple Inc. appears to be planning to announce the latest version of its tablet computer in the first week of March, according to another person briefed on the matter.”
However, with the possibility of iPad 3 coming with 4G LTE compatibility, some users are uncertain whether the tablet will retain its legendary battery life. A commenter at MacRumors said that hopefully, these enhancements will not generally affect the battery life of iPad since its 10+ hour battery life is among the major factor that separates it from other tablet. “I am looking forward to all of these enhancements, but I don’t want the iPad world to regress into the “7 hour” promises of the laptop world—particularly since laptops never last 7 hours. It’s a different devise when you can work with it all day without needed a charge.”
The possibility of an iPad LTE compatible tablet has always been the subject of various iPad rumors last year. But as the official release date of Apple’s tablet is drawing near, full details of the tablet features are gradually falling into place confirming some of the rumors while dispelling others as totally myths. Other known facts about the upcoming iPad3 are that this will come equipped with a Retina Display high resolution screen apart from its supposedly quad core processor. All these will be confirmed once the tablet is unveiled this coming March 7.
